Finals parings.

I know the blah blah from the committee about the four best teams but I

was wondering why they put the SEC in a situation where they may

not have a team in the final game.

The way they are paired now there is a chance of one SEC team, both SEC teams or SEC left out.

Had they paired GA with BAMA they would have been guaranteed at least one in the finals.

I'm thinking it would be great if the Tigers play OU in the finals.

The holy grail for ESPN would be an all SEC final but that could turn out to be a bust.

The SEC does not receive more money for having two teams in the CFP. Each of the Power Five conferences receives @$45-50 million even if they don't have a team in the playoff. The Group of Five conferences receive one share to divide among all conferences. Each team in the playoff does receive some money to cover expenses.

Yes, they do get money for getting teams in.

(3) A conference will receive $6 million for each team that is selected for the semifinal games. There will be no additional distribution to conferences whose teams qualify for the national championship game. A conference will receive $4 million for each team that plays in a non-playoff bowl under the arrangement (in 2017-18, the Cotton, Fiesta and Peach Bowls).

At best they could justify Oklahoma at 1

But no way any 1 would buy clemson or UGA @4.

Or bama any higher than 4.. it was all they could to weezel Bama in the playoffs in the 1st place.
