Need to redo my driveway. Looking at crushed granite instead of slag.
Can get a load of fill dirt for $200 to smooth out the areas and another $600 for the granite. Smooth it out with a box blade.
Anybody had any experience with crushed granite?
In b4 cement udp life.

Is the crushed granite sturdy enough to support the 1985 Firebird you undoubtedly have on jackstands in the front yard?

He'll need to put like 4 or 5 layers of cardboard from his beast ice 24 packs under each jack stand to keep it from sinking into the surface.

Base layer - #57 Stone - crushed gravel. Rough, jagged stones. Drains well.
Top layer - Crusher Run (aka crush'n'run for you hicks), #411 stone, which is #57 stone mixed with some fines, Pea Gravel, Marble Chips, slag, etc.
Slag, when packed down, can be impossibly hard and dense. Like impossible-to-dig hard. Crusher Run packs down hard, but not nearly as hard as slag. All of the porous and jagged edges lock together tight as crap.

There's four steel mills in your general area

(hope that doesn't dox you too bad).
There should be plenty of slag. You just need to find out who does the slag processing for those mills.
Nucor Darlington uses TMS http://www.tmsinternational.com/locations.cfm
Nucor Berkley uses Charleston Mill Service (CMS) http://edwclevy.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/07/Product-Guide-CMS.pdf
Not sure who processes slag for Georgetown Steel... I looked but I can't find out. You can see the slag processing yard on google earth. Maybe call someone at Georgetown (I think Liberty Steel owns it now) (843) 485-4724
CMC Steel in Columbia uses TMS
