Do you guys think Chad really wants a good run game?

I mean, I know he likes to have one but I just wonder how much time we spend on it in practice. All of the deception and motion and screens and counters take a lot of practice time. Timing is very important in the run he as well and our guys just look out of sync on run plays. That tells me it may be lack of reps or attention to detail on run plays. We also run the ball horizontally a lot. Would like to see us go right at teams more between the tackles. UNC just brought edge pressure and blew us up. They had no concern over our inside run game, yet we rarely went to it. Thoughts?

Why run when passing is so much more fun ... consider this

When you went outside with your son when he was growing up - did you just hand him the football and say "Kid - go run around awhile." I am going to stand here and drink a beer.
Or did you have him run routes and "PASS" him the football?

I feel like we run between the tackles more than you think.

Don't think so. Everything off tackle/sweep. Zone read even wide. Where is inside trap and power? We try it once then hang it up

I feel like we go to it fairly often for how little return we get off of it.

Ok. So much for serious discussion. I just think we will never have a great run game with status quo. Not sure it's even a priority. Of course teams have won big without one before. Just wish they would quit pretending to want to have one.

If we had managed to land either Gurley or Elijah Hood, we would probably have a very strong run game. Short yardage plays would be in abundance. Just saying. Nobody knew Dye would remain injured for 2 years. Our run game would have been fine (I think) if he had stayed healthy.

All that motion is harmful to our running game.

9 times out of 10, all it does is bring an extra defender into the box.
And I know, I know, it is designed to confuse the defense and open up the cutback, etc. Well that's nonsense. It doesn't work.
