Netflix streaming question.

Mar 18, 2013, 11:08 AM

Gonna get netflix after I suspend direcTV until football season rolls around again (thanks soccernut).

My main TV is wifi capable, but my other TV is an old plasma that is not.

What is the best/cheapest device I can buy that will allow me to stream netflix to the second TV through wifi?

Do you have any gaming consoles?

Mar 18, 2013, 11:12 AM

Wii, PS3, Xbox?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

An old xbox (not the 360) and a PS2.

Mar 18, 2013, 11:13 AM

From 10 years ago.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

cheapest will prob be some clearance priced DVD

Mar 18, 2013, 11:13 AM

player. Best price/value equation would probably be a roku box.

If you have Wii, forget it, picture sucks.

I may get the dvd/blue ray anyway - need one for that room.***

He probably only needs a Roku LT (720p and doesn't

Mar 18, 2013, 11:33 AM

have the games/motion controller) for his purpose. Roku LT is $50 MSRP, could probably get it for $40 or less.

Ditto that.

Great streamer, and also allows Amazon streaming and other services.

I tried to stream through a Wii, and had big problems. That little Roku box runs Netflix pretty seamlessly.

My parents have a Samsung "smart" blu-ray player and it

Mar 18, 2013, 11:34 AM [ in reply to I like the interface on the Roku as well as the Apple TV ]

is a major PIA to figure out how to navigate to get to their "apps".

Yes, I have a Samsung BluRay and its interface sucks.

Mar 18, 2013, 11:37 AM

The Sonys are great, though. You can even search Netflix by different categories, whereas the Samsung makes you load up a selection on your streaming queue from a PC f1rst. That blows.
