When I watch games, I just enjoy the game. I don't remember ever thinking during a game, in a any sport, that the announcers were biased (unless, of course, they were the home team announcers).
If you go to an Auburn board right now, I am almost sure you'll see someone talking about how biased the announcers were toward FSU.

They played one other SEC team, and certainly, Florida did not play them as well as Auburn did in the first half. (I am almost sure that quote probably came from the first half.)

In how many other games were they held to 3 points in the first 25 minutes? Later on, Auburn showed that their defense wasn't all that great, but in the first half, that was the best defense played against FSU all year.

Florida's defense is better than Auburns
Posted: Jan 7, 2014, 8:41 AM

Its been Auburns problem all year long. To me it isn't due to a bias, but just lazy. Instead of actually doing some prepwork and calling the game, he just credits Auburn by default of being in the SEC. If anything it short changed the work that Auburn's defensive staff did in getting prepared. They played way above their head in the 1st half and that was against the best offense they faced all year.
They couldn't sustain it though.

All those S O Bs work both sides of the fence constantly. I think they use that scenario to appear to be non bias. But one would have to be mighty ignorant to not see who they are truly siding with. The side that the Ban wagoners jump on from one day to the next. The ESECPN employees are just like the coots, they fly the flag of what ever sec team that is winning at the moment.

In the fiasco last night, the ESPN boys outdid themselves, especially ole Brent who had his head so far up Auburn's rear ends that a powerful come-along would have been necessary for extraction...the result of which would have been "Sh*t on a Prick!" lol

he said something about "SEC defense", clearly inferring that SEC defenses are the cat's meow.
The SEC as a whole played TERRIBLE defense this year. Auburn's defense was about as good as Clemson's defense....not very good.
So why would a top professional make that mistake? Simple bias based on perception tied to the fact that ESPN promotes the SEC because they have broadcast rights to their games.
I'll concede that the SEC has the most good teams (3-5 each year) of any conference. But the other 7 or 10 routinely suck or are mediocre.
For further reading, look up Bob Stoops' comments from a few days ago.

SEC non-conference opponents had a higher total win percentage than the opponents of any other conference (again, FBS only). SEC non-conference opponents were a combined 322-240, a .573 win percentage. Next-highest is .559, by the ACC opponents.

Exactly! At his age, its easier for him to get his Jollies with sec defenses and sec speed!!! And he is being FOOLED just like when he was younger and his lady friends would tell him, oh yes, oh yes, yes yes yes!!! He couldn't see their smiles were bigger when he laid the BIG cash on the table

Yep. Totally in the tank for the SEC.
It is clear to me that these guys have been flat-out told by executive management at the four letter network that they better espouse the corporate line (ie. SEC, SEC, SEC) or look for employment elsewhere.
Remember, ESPN stands for Entertainment, Sports, Programming, Network. They are not, and have never claimed to be, unbiased journalists. They have made a business decision (a bad one IMO) that adopting the SEC has their lead product is in their financial best interest.
A couple of seasons of other conferences (hopefully ACC) teams winning FB natty's and they will drop the SEC like a hot potato.

Herbstreit hates the SEC. It goes all the way back to his days at OSU. I think he (along with Pollack) usually does a pretty good job of keeping it neutral
Brent on the other hand was doing some serious SEC-pumping

didn't y'all know...?! ANY team that does ANY good or even BEATS an $EC team has "modeled" their program after the great $EC team's defenses & offenses (which ever side is playing better)...
If we'd beaten the lameclucks they'd have said the same about us!
now, on to Herbie & Mussty... they MOSTLY treat us impartially & fairly, however not COMPLETELY or always, it's only when it's gameday here because they love our school & tradition & campus. otherwise they like to use us as an example of underachiever, such as mentioning FSU thrashing us at home multiple time during the game & pregame. they are both in the same boat with the $EC, even though many times Herbie seems more reluctant to paddle with them & more likely to follow behind in the dingy or life-float. they are all guilty of putting an $EC label on anything good in football & tout their teams as one perfect team within a conference who is dominant over ALL football programs, even when they're incorrect & don't give examples to back it up...plus most everyone knows that it's simply not the case, other than the top teams that have those 7 consecutive titles (now failing...). it is what they do & these "other than $EC teams" have to win 1st to prove it, yet many times that doesn't stop the SE"P"-pumping & they'd rather make an excuse for the $EC teams rather than give due credit to a non-$EC team, thereby invalidating all of their repeated & only partially founded $EC praises & chants.
did anyone hear Herbie when FSU scored & even before they'd reviewed the obvious great run-up-the-middle TD, he was claiming that the player was down waaaay back there at the 2 yardline & his knee had touched??? (but it wasn't even close). When they actually backed it up & saw it was completely legit, he said not one word! not correcting himself or giving credit or anything...just silence of disappointment. Add to it all the blatant $EC a$$-kissing & comparisons to "SEC SPEED" & "SEC DEFENSE", then whether you're biased or not it is obvious which side of the fence they are on & it ain't right on top mind you!
ESPN = SEC...that much is simple! And until they stop comparing any other non-$EC team schools having success with a generic "SEC-type" team, without naming a specific example & not just a conference as a whole...their bias is a proven fact & is unfounded in the manner they portray it. that, my tiger-striped furry friends, is bias at it's best...ESecPN bias & it won't quit until we other beat them up more regularly like what happened last night! ;-]
