No. He will not sign a NLI.

He becomes automatically "locked-in" once he attends his first class at Clemson. In other words there is potential for more drama for a few more weeks.

I don't think that is correct. He will most certainly sign a letter of intent. I however do not know when that will occur, but it will before class has started.

The Dead Period has begun, meaning coaches can't have any contact with recruits during the next three weeks unless:

(2) December 17, 2012, through January 3, 2013, [except for (a) below]: Dead Period

(a) Institutional staff members may have contact with a prospective student-athlete who has been admitted for midyear enrollment, provided the prospect has signed a National Letter of Intent or other offer of admission and/or financial aid to attend the institution and is required to be on campus to attend institutional orientation sessions for all students:

No. This is correct. I have first-hand knowledge of this process.

He will not sign a NLI. There is no need for that. He will sign a grant-in-aid form (scholorshio papers) but those aren't binding like the NLI is.

Attendance in the fist class is the same as the NLI. In other words, once he attends that class, all the NCAA transfer restrictions apply.

Am I correct in thinking that the player could sign a NLI but it would count against the total number for 2013. If he does not sign a NLI he can count towards the previous class and not count towards the total signed in this class?
