We did all those publicity stunts in the 80s to off-set the fact that we were on NCAA probation ... it helped take our minds off it. We weren't on TV ... we couldn't go to a bowl. So we came up with things like a world record balloon launch and 80K kazoos and the flash card show, etc. IMHO, No need for that sort of thing now.
