Clemson-Alabama CFP Connections

Clemson and Alabama have both been to 5 out of the 6 playoffs. Each has two close games and two not so close games against each other. Both have 2 CFP National Champions.

In 2014, Alabama got into the CFP but Clemson did not. In 2019, Clemson got into the CFP but Alabama did not. In 2014 Alabama lost in the semi-finals to.... Ohio State. Hopefully the Tigers won't suffer the same fate.

- In 2015, Alabama shut out a Big-10 team in the CFP semifinal (Michigan State 38-0) before winning the national title, and in 2016, it was Clemson shutting out a Big-10 team (Ohio State 31-0) before winning it all.

- In 2015, Clemson had a score of 24-21 at some point during the NC game before Alabama took over, and in 2016, Alabama had a score of 24-21 before Clemson took over.

- Incidentally, in 2015, the Clemson BASKETBALL team lost to Alabama 50-51 in a season when the football team lost as well, and in 2016, they defeated them 67-54, as did the football team.
