"shuffle" while playing music through iTunes (or whatevs), it shuffles through the same 30 ####### songs every time, even though I have a catalog of 500 +?
I'm sick of fast forwarding past Ben Folds Five.

Itunes uses a predictive algorithm to "randomly" play songs that it thinks you will like based on the number of plays

song that I know of that I actually enjoyed listening to. It would be my soundtrack of choice for self-immolation, though, or if I wanted to wander aimlessly in the wilderness until coyotes tore me asunder.
I did actually see them live (at unnamed music festival in Manchester, TN) and it was really a miserable show. It may have ruined them for me.

usually my first impressions end up being my last impressions.
Radiohead is one I came around on, Pink Floyd is another. I didn't even go to the concert in Death Valley when I was at Clemson (wish I had now) because I was so indifferent, but the older I get, the more I realize that what they were doing was genius.

Every time I turn my radio off in my car

it turns the random setting off on the ipod. This results in it starting again with a random song which means that I'm often all like "I just heard this gotdang song". I feel your pain, although luckily it doesn't replay all the same songs. The ipod has 7077 songs, I just want to hear every gotdang one of them in random order.

could be the bitmap in the mainframe, too. But you end up wasting a lot of time if you don't make sure the algorithm is running smooth first
