Can any of you fine Marines give me your thoughts on a

wedding gift for my nephew- a Marine Lt to be married this June 6th. Any of you serving or have served for that matter...

I have a 48-star Flag that was in Europe during the 2nd World War and am planning to give that. I also wanted to get them a signed copy from D.Rod but he never responds to any of my requests. Any insights or ideas would be awesome.

Forever indebted to all that have served or serving so Thank You!

sooo...save the flag for a promotion or something

Since this is a wedding gift, I'd get something that both the bride and groom would like.

Recommendations:
-a giant canvas photo of the bride and groom (search on Groupon)
-a gift certificate to lowes/home depot for a new grill
-spending money for the honeymoon
-something off their registry

Just speaking from experience.

I agree with Jarhead One..... I would just give them.....

something that I would give any other newly wed couple. The flag is a great idea for a personal gift when he gets promoted or another special occasion. Although a Marine appreciates the service of Army guys like DRod, they probably had rather have an autographed book or photo of another well known Marine. When one of my Marine buddies was dying, several of us got the Commandant of a Marine Corps to send an autographed photo signed "Best Wishes, Ed, Keep on charging....Mike Hagee".

On a not serious side, a new fishing rod and reel. It will help the new wife adapt.

When I was in the Corps. we were told at Parris Island that if the Marine Corps wanted us to have a wife....they would issue one to us! Maybe design some kind of official looking document issuing her to him and have him sign for her at the rehearsal Party. Make sure you give her a serial number something like Smith-AJ-Wife1. Like they say it is the thought that counts! Of course provide a frame to put it in. It can be used latter for pictures of the kids.

That would be hilarious. Even have his boss man issue it

as well. They are stationed in Japan so unfortunately whatever it is it has to be sent.

I gave a classmate, going to OCS, my brass belt buckle at his wedding. He wore it for 30 years until retirement. He promptly returned it to it's original owner. That buckle has seen the world. Semper Fidelis.
