CJ as our running backs coach?

Oct 27, 2016, 4:01 PM

Maybe now that he's been released by Seattle he'll come home and be our running backs coach. I would like to see him as part of our coaching staff someday.

Maybe he can teach Feaster how to run a wheel route.

why the #### does Carolina not take a chance with him?

They have no one with agility on the offense.

for us. Terry Allen. Head and shoulders above all the rest. Go watch his tape if they have any. Definition of prototypical.

Different eras of the game. Can't just go down the stat column and compare

Terry Allen would have done just fine in the era

we are in now as well.

He is by far the best RB Clemson has had in my lifetime. He has an NFL career to back it as well.

Terry is my all time favorite rb. He was tuff as they come. Loved it when he looked over at Leroy Butler and kicked it into another gear when he made that long td run at FSU.

CJ was a great Tiger and did a lot to further the improvement of Clemson as a team and for that he will forever be considered one of the all-time greats. Every time he touched the ball, he caused fear in opponents and racing heartbeats in fans. But, he didn't like to run between the tackles and we constantly had him working the edges. Given his size (particularly at the time), I can understand why - and there were times that his middle feint-bounce outside moves provided big gains - and his inability to gain yards between the tackles led to a strange running game that often couldn't get 1 yard when we needed it on 3rd down..... it was usually feast or famine with him, although it could be said that he did not have the best O-line that Clemson has ever had.

He's become better at running between the tackles in the NFL, but he can't take the pounding. Such likely colors his thinking and would do the same as a coach. We need a RB who can do both, but first will let O-linemen know what it feels like to have someone crawling up their backside if they don't open and hold a crease or get a 1-yard push when it's needed.

CJ may know how to coach that, but I'd rather have someone whose first option doesn't require 6' of daylight before he sticks his nose in the hole.
