Saw Coots talking about Dabo's "Low" win %, but....

Spurrier is 55-35 (.611) at South Carolina while Dabo is 40-21, or .656 Pct. They don't teach this here, "arithmetic" at South Carolina I guess.

I'm quite certain that you misunderstood them: they

were talking about "wind" percentages, for they thought Spurrier's hot air far surpassed Dabo's...about which, of course, they were correct. Now, "winnning" percentages is a different story....lol

or they are at the break even point.
I read somewhere that Dabo's winning percentage in his first 4 years is higher than Nick Saban's winning percentage in his first 4 years... Don't quote me on that though.

Until SOS beat Clemson in 2009 to start this streak
Apr 11, 2013, 11:35 AM

there were a bunch of Cooters calling for his head on the local Coot propaganda stations here in Cootertown.
So, now he is winning and this year Dabo will take the streak back and start his on streak.

I don't care how many times spurrier beats Dabo or...
Apr 11, 2013, 11:25 AM
|
|
that Athlon Sports ranks spurrier higher than Dabo, I'll take Dabo over spurrier. In time, Dabo will win more championships than any previous Clemson coach and force spurrier into retirement. Dabo will reset the bar for success at Clemson.

The correct numbers are:
Apr 11, 2013, 1:00 PM
|
|
Spurrier is 66-37 (0.641)
Dabo is 40-21 (0.656)
Not as wide of a margin as you wrote, but Dabo still has a better winning percentage than Ball Sack.
And before any dumb coot starts whining about "but the SEC is sooo hard", you didn't hire Ball Sack and pay him a gazillion dollars to whine about the conference.
That, and you don't play the best teams in the SEC every year. The West is always better than the East, and you rarely have played Bama and LSU.
This is one of the reasons I continue to maintain, Dabo has accomplished as much in his first 4 years of head coaching as Sack has in 8 seasons at uSUC.

Actually considering what Spurrier has had to work with
Apr 11, 2013, 2:23 PM
|

I would say he has done more. Let's face it, he took one of the perenially worst teams in the FBS and has made them a solid team.
You either have to give Spurrier credit or South Carolina credit in this situation... I'll take the lesser of the two evils and give it to Spurrier

Without A conference title in over 15 years. He won won in less than 4 years. How many titles has Spurrier won again? Can I get a goose egg?

That' simply not true. Holtz recruited very well. Many NFL

players were on the team in Sack's first few years. In fact, with Blake Mitchell at QB, Sidney Rice and Kenny McKinley at WR, and tons of defensive talent, one can make a case he had a better roster than what Dabo started with, with the exception of CJ Spiller and maybe a couple others.
Just because Holtz lost touch with his last couple teams doesn't mean he didn't leave talent. Not sure what you're recalling. And too, it took Sack 5 years to accomplish anything of note and it didn't happen until the SEC East fell on hard times. Sack's done okay, but not more than Dabo.
