Bottom line our O gassed our D

Jan 14, 2020, 7:43 AM

Make a couple plays on O and the score could have easily been 24-7 maybe 31-7.
We kept missing opportunities, we had field position the whole first Quarter. The D played lights out for the first 20-25 mins. They did exactly what we needed them to do. We kept giving the ball back to LSU and they got rolling.
Stupid play calling and TL having a off night was too much to over come.
The LSU D was good but we made it a lot easier than it should’ve been.

Yup. Your D was mismatched from the begining. Keeping them fresh while scoring on long sustained drives was your key to success. Notice in the begining the longer you kept burrows behind on the bench, the worse his offense did. Motors work best when they are warmed up and kept running, not when they keep getting turned off and restarted.

Yeah, I'm not sure why giving the ball to Etienne was not a priority. When you are playing a great offense, you can't keep giving the ball back to them. We punted 9 times. 3 in our own territory. That's just not going to get it done.

They didn't really stop him all game, but we went away from the run. In the second half, it was a 3 point game and we had the ball. There was no reason to press whatsoever.

Yep and TL instead of throwing up prayers on 2nd and 4 or 5 should have took off running.
At least 4 times last night on 2nd and 3 or 4 we wasted plays by throwing deep balls to covered WRs

Reminded me of how Alabama gashed us with the run last year but didn't have the patience to stick with it

Great post! Etienne should’ve had at least 25 carries.

We definitely left points on the field in the 1st quarter

But i really think a good part of our early defensive success was due to LSU being pinned deep in their own territory. Like if we score early until of punting and they get the ball at the 25 on touchback instead of the 4 or 6 yard line they may have just gone down the field and scored. The game may have been 49-32 or something.

Getting nothing out of great first quarter field position on a couple possessions really hurt us.
