It also says we return 5 starers which is kind of ridiculous

He also seems to make that argument that we need to go

undefeated to get into the playoff which is also bogus. Give me 12-1 ACC champs right now and i would like our chances of getting in. The other 4 conferences aren't all going to have undefeated and 1-loss champs every year that all get picked ahead of us.

It takes faith to ignore the talent and coach of our team.

"Chad Morris left campus for SMU and Swinney promoted Tony Elliott and Jeff Scott. The system is in place and should be productive, but the odds of those two being capable of the same things as Morris is downright impossible."
Clearly shows the writer,Braden Gall, doesn't know what he is talking about. He must not have seen the OK route! I know one game doesn't a champion make but yeah we are in capable hands with Elliot and Scott. And I'm willing to bet they actually improve upon Morris's more questionable "cute" plays.

Does anybody spend money on Athlon any longer?

I get better insight off of Tigernet than I do from Athlon. That should put Athlon's true worth into perspective.

I can argue the opposite

1. Clemson returns all of its top offensive weapons from last year. 2. The Dline will show some drop-off, but this is the best secondary I can remember at Clemson. 3. The schedule is almost perfect. 4. Scelliot coached offense performed beautifully in the bowl game . 5. A one loss ACC champ Clemson team will have a great chance to make they playoff provided the one loss isn't late to SCAR.
Athlon writer must have an agenda.

Time to prognosticate the prognosticators.

Point #1: Watson is "injury prone"
I would like start by saying this, Deshaun Watson got hurt last year. If that is your only evaluation of the player, ya got nothing! When he played he completed close to 70% of his passes, was 14/2 on TD/INT ratio and is arguably the best QB in college football. So the "if" I am not too concern with. Neither is he if listening to him in interview and witnesses from "The Opening" and fall practices.
Point #2: Loss of Morris to SMU
This one is easy. Look up the 2014 Russell Athletic Bowl. The "Trio" (Elliott, Scott, Streeter) did more with a QB who was less than confident about playing than Morris ever thought of doing. While the defense was amazing, that same offense scored 33 points against Oklahoma. Mind you, that was in a 30 day or less span. They have had a full off-season to prepare and will have a full fall camp with all that talent.....
Point #3: Reloading on Defense
Everyone thinks that front four was all the important piece of that defense. They were good. But so was the second team. You know who was part of the two deep of the #1 defense in the country in 2014? Lawson (who had more tackles than Beasley last year), Reader (think Jarrett but bigger), Watkins (who was actually the starter in 2013 until a car accident). Add Dodd who is an unknown only because ahead of him was Crawford and Steward. But Dodd also played a ton of snaps last year. Also, the other portion of that defense was the back end which has a ton of experience and the LB corps which may possibly be the strength of the 2015 defense. All this also reared its head in the bowl game (the majority of the turnovers were by current players and the other TD, Ben Boulware "pick 6").
Last point: The schedule:
All that needs to be known: GT, ND, FSU are all at home, Louisville will be early, South Carolina will only be one year better in the back end of their defense and their offense is still a mystery...NC State couldn't cover Williams (the slower of the three starters), what do you think will happen with Scott and Peake? Miami will be scrappy but even with playing FSU, they haven't seen anything like Clemson.
To say the ACC will be the league left out this early is stupid. If you want to ride that FSU bandwagon, be my guess. Just know this. Clemson makes three of three field goal attempts, FSU would not be in the discussion. Everett Golson may not even see the field seeing he is the third best QB on the roster. As for losses, past FSU, is their another team with the type of talent Clemson has all over to keep up? I am going to say you were rushed to put this out. How about this as a prediction: The PAC-12 may be the league left out this year.
Think about it. USC is breaking in a new coach and staff, UCLA and Oregon will feature new QBs, Arizona hasn't been consistent enough to say they are the team, Stanford may be the best option but what happens when they fall behind to a Utah...
Prognosticators will prognosticate......

Actually, I think articles like this are valuable. We love being the under-dogs. Let their talking heads bobble. We're going to show them on the field. Spot the D@MN BALL.
