Are NFL players banned from

Jun 16, 2018, 8:45 AM

smoking cigs and drinking alcohol?

I hope so. Both are one of the leading causes of death in this country. Surely teams aren’t banking millions of dollars on a guy who indulges in such activities.

Both are legal so your argument is invalid. Regardless of our personal opinion on weed as an employer the NFL has every right to ban a substance. Bryant’s actions shows that getting high is more important than his career and will pay a price for his choices

Hiding the true numbers on CTE and opioid addiction...

That's their rights "as an employer". Let's not forget their monetary ties to sponsors such as the distillery and pharmaceutical industries. It's all about legality and the NFL's image... Nothing else. Yeah,... BS!

Cmon, don't be silly

Everyone knows those halftime pain killer injections have never once led to any sort of recreational abuse on behalf of the players. Since theyve been designated as "legal", there is simply no way there could be any potential for abuse.

The reality is that Martavis could be suffering from a generalized anxiety disorder, insomnia, or any number of medically recognized issues, and the NFL is thwarting his mental health in an effort to appear sanctimonious.

Marijuana won't strand you in a parking lot so dazed and confused that you kill yourself in front of team owners. Concussions will. Painkillers will. I won't argue that the NFL needs to take a hard stance when it comes to performing enhancing drugs, but marijuana does not fall into this category.

The brutal irony here is that in an effort to "help" Martavis professionally, they may be undermining him on a human level.

So in MB's case you are advocating to keep him stoned all day as a treatment? Puleeeze, that line of thinking does not help and in fact is why we are at crisis levels with opioid issues. Get to the root causes and treat those and not symptoms . Keeping folks drugged is not the answer in any reasonable line of thinking.

Chicken and the egg line of thought on the issue. Bottom line as long as it is a tested for item, banned from use it costs one his livelihood. Not too hard to grasp and if they want the benefits without the high maybe push for CBD oil useage.
