then it wouldn't make sense to have to pay a conference that doesn't exist.

I think it would be pretty clear if the buy out was shot down in court. At $0, alot of teams start looking for option (UVA, UNC, NCSU, FSU-CU, Miami, VT, GT). At $20m, a few still test the waters (GT, FSU-CU, GT). At $50m, the conference holds for now, but if a team goes undefeated and can not get in the title game, specificallt over a 1 loss team, the football team will have little choice. I do not know where Clemson would get $50m. THe incoming conf would shell some out, but that is alot of dough so we could make more money. Say Clemson is on the hook for $20 in the end. They would basically pass the hat around looking for donations. It would take ten years to get that money back through the payouts of the new conference.

What I hope it that Maryland gets stuck with the $50m, struggling to pay that off and the rest of the conf gets a fat check off of it

I posted, Saturday night, that I am willing to collect any donations towards the exit fee fund, but no one has sent me any $s yet. ;)

A writer from B1G territory quoted a Maryland source as saying they project the difference in pay-out in 2017 to be $43M compared to ACC $24M, less than 3 years.
