Any of you old f@rts turning 50 this year?

Jan 27, 2017, 1:08 PM

Go get a colonoscopy, it may save your life. One saved my life.

Colon cancer facts

• 2nd leading cause of cancer death among men & women combined
• 3rd most commonly diagnosed cancer
• 134,490 estimated new cases in 2016
• 49,190 estimated deaths in 2016
• 1 in 20 people will be diagnosed in their lifetimes
• 1 in 3 people are not up-to-date with screening
• 23 million people have not been screened
• 60% of deaths could be prevented with screening

Almost all Colon Cancer comes from colon polyps. It takes about 10 years for a polyp to turn into cancer. If they are removed before that, then they can't turn into cancer. There are no symptoms until the cancer has grown and starts to cause problems. By the time you have symptoms you are in later stages.

I knew very little if anything about colon cancer. My doc told me at age 49 that next year I would get at colonoscopy. I didn't know what it was and had no "risks". Fortunately for me the tumor was small, only about 3/4" and had not spread. Stage 1 and treated with surgery and no chemo or radiation. (95% survival rate instead of 10% for stage 4) If I would not have gotten screened, I'd probably know by now and would be fighting for my life. I am grateful for my regular doc for telling me to get screened.

Ladies, mammograms find breast cancer when the tumor is very small and very treatable. Same thing, if you wait until you can feel the lump then it might be too late.

Do your loved ones a favor and get checked out. If you die, they are left suffering not you.

I'd have treated myself a lot better had I known I'd make it this long.

Also a good idea to carry a cancer ins policy

Jan 27, 2017, 1:10 PM

Best sleep ever

some insurers only cover local instead of general now. But

Jan 27, 2017, 1:23 PM

that's one expense that's worth it. Also they've changed the recommended interval if you look clean to 10 yrs.

2024 purple level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-beeksteak-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

you can go propofol route as well

Jan 27, 2017, 1:26 PM [ in reply to I'm anti pain and anxiety meds. ]

I've done both and both knock me out without remembering a thing. They call versed conscience sedation some people kind of remember what is going on. Guys get on that and hit on every nurse in the room. I prefer propofol because it knocks you out in about 2-3 seconds

I can vouch for this. Propofol knocks you the faq out quick. I had my appendix removed January of last year. After I woke up from surgery I had lube on my balls, didn't notice til I got home because my face was numb from the pain meds. Great sleep though.

By then though, they ought to be able to just stick their head up there after what Anderson County has been doing to be financially.

Jan 27, 2017, 1:24 PM [ in reply to I get to have one when I turn 30. yay ]

Went up the #### and then down the throat. Saw everything but my small intestine. Found gerd and reflux. Omeprozole FTW.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-tiggity-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Wait....Who did yours?

Jan 27, 2017, 1:29 PM

I hope mine at least go down the throat before they go up the ####. I'm not trying to go to the doctor to get ATM'ed.

2024 white level memberbadge-donor-15yr.jpgringofhonor-lakebum1-110.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Had a colonoscopy then an endoscopy. Week apart or so

Jan 27, 2017, 1:34 PM

Don't know why the doc chose that order. Found the culprit on the endoscopy. Had reflux/gerd even though I hardly ever get heartburn (that I can feel). Basically the gerd causes too much acid to be produced and that acid would flush through my digestive system resulting in the runs.

Started me on omeprozole and the runs stopped. Been on it for close to 10 years now I guess.

did both on the same day, using the same camera, and unfortunately for you chose to go up the #### first.
