Any good restaurants open in Clemson on Thanksgiving Day?

Nov 3, 2016, 8:07 AM

We are coming down (from New York) to visit our son for Thanksgiving weekend. We are going to the Clemson/SCAR game and are trying to find a "decent" restaurant for Thanksgiving day. Not looking for traditional turkey dinner, just decent food! We are finding many of the good places are closed. I'm afraid we'll be eating at SONIC! Any ideas? Many thanks.

My family and a group of close friends are doing a big cook out and Thanksgiving meal in Clemson with all the fixings. PM me for details.

You and yours are invited! We hope to see ya there. This is the south, after all.

Why not drive in to Greenville. There are so many good restaurants there, downtown is lots of fun and you can get a good picture on the liberty bridge. About a 40 min drive.

yes, we may just do that. I've already searched and see many nice places are open there. We like Ruth's Chris, which is in Greenville.

They are definitely open.*****

Cracker Barrel!

Nov 3, 2016, 8:24 AM [ in reply to Re: Any good restaurants open in Clemson on Thanksgiving Day? ]

We go to Cracker Barrel all the time now for Thanksgiving. They have really good food reasonably priced. Everyone can get what they want, but they do have a Thanksgiving meal you can get with turkey, ham, dressing, a few sides and desert for under $10.

Happy beat the clucks day...

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Great, thanks!***

Thanksgiving Day?

Nov 3, 2016, 8:17 AM

We can make room for four more, maybe six if two are alright with sitting at the kid's table with me.

(But will defer to DWatson as he called first dibs...)

Will you need to stay the night?

I will have some extra Cowboys jerseys, sweatshirts and hats for you, too...

(...so if you are a Cowboys hater, you may want to take DW4Heisman up on his offer...)

As long as this guy gets a good home cooked meal for turkey day the southerner in me can rest easy.

LOL! Actually, my husband would love that. He is a die-hard Cowboys fan - my son and I are Giants fans!

Giants fans?!?!... I don't think I would have shared that...

Nov 3, 2016, 10:05 AM

very fortunate. Our son has already said he is "staying in Tigertown" after graduation. So, most likely we will be relocating south at some point. Many thanks for your kind words.

I know that the Steak House Cafeteria in Walhalla is open

Nov 3, 2016, 8:21 AM

They will be open for lunch. They will have turkey and the fixings, but they will also have their world famous fried chicken. If you don't mind driving 20 minutes to the base of the mountains, it is a good option.

Despite the name, it's not a steak house. Cafeteria-style meat-and-3. Food is excellent, especially the fried chicken.

The Dutch Oven, a Mennonite owned restaurant in nearby Abbeville, SC will be open on Thanksgiving Day. Very good Dutch/Southern food. It's about 45 miles from Clemson.

just a guess. I don't actually know, but they came to mind as they would probably have a great turkey buffet.

Deinners (sp) in Seneca

Nov 3, 2016, 9:32 AM

I have found Deinners (sp) a great place for good old fashion cooking. I think it's an Amish restaurant but regardless it's a #### good meal if you like buffet. I'd be surprised if they are not open on thanksgiving but it doesn't hurt to contact them directly and find out.

Nov 3, 2016, 10:17 AM

Only about an hour drive up to about 4,300 feet above sea level. Lots of good restaurants to choose from and you can hike Whiteside Mountain before or after.
