Flowers sealed the win with an eighth inning home run and his second save of the year.
Wolfpack Keeps Rolling NC State took three straight games from Pitt – including a 4-3 win in the series opener and a 6-5 victory in Sunday’s finale – to move to 15-0 on the year, 3-0 in ACC play … This year’s team now holds the record for the best start to a season in school history and is one of two remaining unbeaten teams in NCAA Division I baseball, along with Arizona State … NC State’s 15-game winning streak is also the program’s longest since 2013, when the 2013 squad also won 15 consecutive games … NC State is 7-0 thus far in one-run games this season.
Tigers Terrific Against Tar Heels Clemson also got off to a 3-0 start in ACC play with its first three-game series sweep of North Carolina since 1977 … UNC entered the series at 12-1 and ranked as high as No. 3 nationally … The Tigers’ sweep included a pair of one-run walk-off wins, including a 5-4 win in Sunday’s finale on Logan Davidson’s two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth … Clemson had also trailed by a run in the bottom of the ninth of Friday’s series opener before pulling out the win with a pair of runs, the second and decisive of which scored on a balk.
Busy Midweek Slate Seven ACC teams remain ranked in at least one major weekly poll, with Florida State and NC State ranked 1-2 nationally by Collegiate Baseball … ACC teams have 20 midweek non-conference games slated, including several matchups of ranked teams (Florida State at Florida, Duke at East Carolina on Tuesday, Ole Miss at Louisville, Coastal Carolina at Clemson on Wednesday).
