I have told this story before, but with the big game coming

up, I think I will repeat it. At the 63-17 game, the coots were favored by 4 and a half I think. I went with several friends, and one of them was adamant about getting in our seats early. Like, 45 minutes before kickoff. So, we did , and I mean to tell you the Tigers, Tiger Fans that is, were ready to roll. I bet we did the 1..2...3...4 at least 15 times before the game. Well, the game kicks off and bam, Charley throws a TD pass, we get it back, and bam another TD pass. Now, we have done the 1...2...3..4 about 10 or 12 more times, with all the coots in their seats as well. So, my buddy says,I would love to see Airese catch one right in the mdiddle of that O in the endzone. BAM! TD to Airese RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF THAT O! AT this time, still in the first quarrter, 7 coots on our row stand up, collect their coats, seats, and pocketbooks and start heading out....As the last one passes me (I am on the end) and turns to walk down the steps, we finish up 1...2...3...4...C...l...e...m.... once again, and he turns back to me and says,"Well I see y'all finally learned how to spell it!!!"..and I calmly said, "Yeah, Partner, and if you stick around another quarter, you'll learn how to spell it too..."
Boys, that was one fired up chicken as he headed down the steps.....

It was Emory Smith that carried the coot for a few yards.

Somewhere in my "stuff" I have a tape of that game. I have watched it many, many times and it was better each time. Smith drug that would-be tackler about 25 - 30 yards with the Gamecock's feet dragging the ground. I always think of that scene as Smith being a tractor and the Gamecock being the plow.

When the ##### were leading with a few minutes left to play. I was sitting with a friend in a Gamecock section and the lady in front of me said to her date/husband(?), " I can't believe we are going to win this!" (very prophetically). Charlie Whitehurst got the first down then we went for the field goal as the clock was winding down and won 23-21 (I think that was the final score).
Ah, the happiness never ends.

This game is one of my favorite memories of being a Tiger fan.
My wife and I left Spartanburg around 2 pm. We got parked around 6:40 and were literally just getting to our seats when Charlie threw the first TD pass. We had not yet sat down by the time the 2nd TD pass was tossed.
We got tickets from gamecock fans so we were seated around nothing but coot fans right outside the Clemson locker room.
The coot fans were outraged that Clemson was running up and down the field on them. The outrage didn't last long in the stands for many of them as they started leaving well before halftime. Nothing but Tiger fans left in the stadium by the time the game ended.
The grounds around the stadium were empty by the time we got back to the car. Took about 1 hour 40 minutes to get home!!
We went on to beat Tennessee in the Peach Bowl in another game we were not supposed to win.

a more deserving group of third tier poultry.
What is third tier poultry, you ask? Well, chicken houses have vertical rows, usually three. The top row is #1, then 2, then, the lowest is the third tier. And, we know chickens don't have raincoats. So, just hope you don't buy any third tier chicken! Bock, bock, booooooockk.....

When we went to the auburn game at auburn a couple of years ago we sat next to a loud mouth auburn fan. I will say on his behalf he was more humorous then annoying. But at some point we did the Clemson cheer and he said I get it you know how to f-ing spell Clemson. Up to that point I always just thought it was something fun we did. I didn’t get that it drives our opponents crazy. I have a newfound appreciation for it now.

How did Brad design that play to get the receiver so wide open down the middle on the first play of the game? Please do it again.
