Will the new qb be Cooper or a true freshman? Any news on how he has looked during practice?

I'd rather not have to start a true freshman; Deshaun Watsons don't grow on trees. He's a rare individual.

To run our offense we have to have a quarterback who can pass and run. We haven't seen that yet from Bryant; so it's hard for me to see him as the starter unless he makes miraculous strides between now and next fall. I'm looking forward to seeing what Cooper can do next spring.

I am wary of any recruit who demands a starting role as a true freshman. This is especially true at QB. Deshaun and Lamar Jackson are rare exceptions. Most true freshman QB's end up looking like Jake Bentley did Satdy night against top competition.

Whomever is the starter, I think we have a nice problem at this position with the abundance of talent we'll have with Johnson and Brice coming in as well not to mention Tucker too who has a gunslinger for an arm.

I would say Cooper will start. Johnson needs to put on weight. He's real scrawny in all of his highlight videos
