Problem with Dem strategy... RESULTS matter

Feb 6, 2020, 1:27 PM

Their strategy of narrative, attacks, and divisiveness is not enough to overcome tangible RESULTS.

They need to stop the talking & squawking and GET TO WORK IN THE HOUSE on things that matter to the average American and pass some legislation.

Guessing almost all legislation passed in the house

Feb 6, 2020, 1:28 PM

will get squashed in the Senate.

Politics, bro.

Then they should "reach across the aisle" and pass

Feb 6, 2020, 1:35 PM

meaningful legislation. Pass something that will make it through the Senate. At least something that can make it to conference committee.

See, you NEVER hear about Democrats reaching across that aisle. Its always, the President and the Senate are obstructing what the house wants to do.

Its politics bro.

Some of those things have passed

Feb 6, 2020, 1:48 PM

But you're not going to get big pieces of transformational legislation with a divided Congress and a president that likes to troll the Dems.

Personally, I'm not sure I want Congress trying to pass a bunch of legislation.

impeachment seems to have been the most unifying event...

for Trump and the pubs. They had much difficulty getting on the same page on anything when they owned everything.

Dems and media were masterful at dividing Repubs.

It might've helped if he seemed to know about or care about policy.

90% of the time, gridlock is good for America

Feb 6, 2020, 1:53 PM [ in reply to Some of those things have passed ]

if its important enough it should be passed with bipartisan support.

Our system of government is designed for compromise. Unfortunately in today's climate, that means little will get done.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

gridlock is beautiful

Feb 6, 2020, 2:34 PM

last time congress/president agreed on something, we got a crappy insurance policy created by democrats

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

do we really need more laws?

They tried to work with Trump on infrastructure. He walked out of the meeting.

Feb 6, 2020, 2:29 PM [ in reply to Then they should "reach across the aisle" and pass ]

But ya, it’s all the Dems fault.

Truth is, Congress (and the nation) is more divided than ever. And that is both sides’ fault. Blaming only the Dems for not getting things done is stupid, Trump had a Republican Congress for two years and got nothing done. It’s not all the Dems fault, it’s both sides.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I agree with you on much of that...

Feb 6, 2020, 2:36 PM

Much of the reason stuff wasn't done while pubs had complete control was fighting between pub leadership and Trump. The impeachment has brought them together, although I think temporarily.

I think the dems and Trump could find common ground.

Unfortunately, we just seem to be lacking true leadership across the board. I'm not sure there are any "adults in the room" at this point.

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Nope, the child left the room before they could even discuss

Feb 6, 2020, 6:08 PM

it. No sense in spending all the time getting a bill written if it doesn’t include anything the president wants and that he wont sign. Can’t find out what he wants if he won’t even discuss it.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

the house doesnt need the president to pass a bill,

Feb 6, 2020, 8:16 PM

negotiate with the senate, and put it on his desk

military_donation.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it may be time to scrap the whole thing...

Feb 6, 2020, 1:49 PM [ in reply to Guessing almost all legislation passed in the house ]

We've had a two-party system of some sort for most of our 250 years. Seems we have gotten to the point that the majority and minority parties can't work together anymore (and that's both sides). What makers it worse is it is still dysfunctional when one part controls all the power.

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpgbadge-ringofhonor-franc1968.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

So we'll just ignore the 400 bills the House has passed,

He's not going to give anybody the allusion that the house is actually trying to do it's job.

Hell Trump was talking about passing legislation to reduce prescription drug costs and he would sign it.

The house already has. It's sitting on Mitch's desk and he won't allow it to come up for a vote in the Senate.

The house has sent over 200 bipartisan bills to the Senate in the last several months. They continue to sit on Mitch McConnell's desk.

What more can the house do? The whole 'get back to work' is just partisan misinformation. I'm afraid the incessant pisssing contest between the Dems and Reps have consumed them to the point of irrationality and we'll all suffer for it.

they are supposed to work with the senate
