Fear City.

Documentary on how the mob was taken down in NYC in the '70s.

That was great. I watched it. Yeah it surprised me how good it was.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yup. Branch Covidians.

Aug 11, 2020, 12:51 PM

It's about right wing extremists in the middle of a pandemic. If I remember correctly, like 20 million people catch this contagious virus in 5 months and nearly 750k people die.

Basically they have this theory that 180 countries and all medical personnel on earth band together to totally make up information with the end goal of having a controversial leader lose an election in their own country.

It's a train wreck you just can't stop watching.

That's one crazy plot. I highly doubt anyone will ever buy into that plot anyway. It's too nutty.

Not sure of platform, but The Alienist, Perry Mason, and

Aug 11, 2020, 12:56 PM

Yellowstone are good. I really like The Alienist.

If you have Amazon Prime, a couple of entertaining ones

Aug 11, 2020, 1:24 PM

are Fortitude, Guns Akimbo, Crawl, The Report, Dog Soldiers, The Handmaiden, Overlord(2018 one)

The Survivalist is really good, but not sure where available.

Uncut Gems with Adam Sandler IS on Netflix(your question) and it is excellent. The Kominskey Method is funny(love Alan Arkin) and Babylon Berlin is also very good.

Did you watch Babylon Berlin dubbed or with subtitles?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

I am a subtitles guy. I turn them on no matter the language

Aug 11, 2020, 2:23 PM

so I get better understanding and retention. <img border=">

I can't handle the dubbing.

Just finished Perry Mason season 1.

I think Erle Stanley Gardner would be rolling over in his grave, but it was enjoyable. I'll watch it when season 2 comes out.

Have you seen Old Guard?

Aug 11, 2020, 1:02 PM

Pretty good I mentioned it the other night.

Warrior Nun is interesting in a modern teen heroine sort of way

I am watching Mind Huhters again. It’s so good. Got the wife to watch too. That show has so much happening, I didn’t see or forgot more than half of the shows.

I could watch that again myself. I was pretty buzzed through a lot of it.

Most of the shows that I have watched were on a plane and I feel the same. Its like on that smaller screen and the noise of the plane and airports, its like I only catch half of what is going on. So I have been rewatching a lot.

I started watching The Umbrella Academy

Aug 11, 2020, 1:27 PM

1 epi into 2nd season, and I'm still not really sure if I like it or not....but here we are

So, my pandemic binging has included:

The Umbrella Academy (to the extent just mentioned)

Dark, 3 seasons - ###? good, but take notes. Good closure

Arrested Development, 5 seasons - why didn't I do that earlier?

Dead to Me, 2 seasons - dew like, looking forward to Season 3 (Carlsbad®, this might be my rec - only 30 min episodes, not a whole lotta commitment

Outer Banks, 1 season - good enough to keep my attention, will watch next season

Space Force, 1 season - i dunno. Having a character (nick)named F*&^ Tony, alone, makes it worthwhile

Money Heist, 4 seasons - good, but I'm a sucker for heists...euro-humor, which isn't great, dubbing sucks, deal with it

Ozark, Season 3 - Great, maybe my fav thing on 'tv', no surprise here

Tiger King - what trash. All around.

that's just series...and just Netflix

Re: I started watching The Umbrella Academy

Aug 11, 2020, 1:33 PM

I liked Dark a lot, but season 3 fried my brain. I liked the ending a lot though.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

it was crazy how, throughout the entire season, there are

Aug 11, 2020, 1:46 PM

explanations for seemingly minute things, chain of custody of items throughout time and whatnot

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yeah, it's the one show my daughter enjoys watching with me,

Aug 11, 2020, 1:38 PM [ in reply to I started watching The Umbrella Academy ]

so I endure it. Not terrible, and I'm in season two also.

Couple observations

-if 4.5% of the population is gay IRL, on the umbrella academy it's 45%.
-Klaus is not nearly as interesting a character as the writers think he is.
-The unlikable "kid" may be the only likable character.
