Interesting point of criticism from a guy posting on tigernet about a high school in Portland potentially changing their mascot. How anyone manages to exist in a mental state where that crosses the threshold into things you care about, I truly don't understand.
What is there to deflect? I'm not involved with this school in any way, and I doubt that many on this message board ever have or will be.
The "content" of the article, a discussion about whether an evergreen tree mascot could be connected to lynching, is pretty dumb, but it's a school named after Ida B. Wells so it probably comes with the territory.

That lady is mentally ill. No sane person would think that. One person said “evergreen trees are not typical lynching trees”. LOL. Anybody ever try to string a rope in a cedar tree? How about that Leyland cypress in your yard. Dang now all day I’ll be laughing and thinking about that pathetic lady every time I see an evergreen.
See now I have images of one guy trying to get a rope 50 feet up a pine and another guy trying to navigate a thick cedar to find a limb strong enough. There’s some pretty dumb lynchers out there I guess.
The point is Clemson_Chris® that more and more of the lunatic fringe is following this type of insane thinking. So much so, it really is not lunatic fringe.
Entire large swaths of liberal society are entrenching themselves in a life where they only think about things like this all day, every day - thanks to their liberal social media feeds.
With that said, this tree mascot is clearly aligned with white supremacy:
There is not a large portion of the population or even one party that thinks about this stuff all day every day. You should check in with reality every once in a while, not just Newsmax.
"We did talk about it, but we were looking at the symbolism more as a tree of life, than a tree of death," Osborne, who is African American, told the school board.
LMAO! "Tree of Death"!
"Yea, in those days shall there be wailing and gnashing of teeth, for the Tree of Death shall spread its limbs over all the land." - Revelations 62:3... or thereabouts.
