Charleston traffic

Is so ridiculous I literally have time to write this post. I just moved here so I'm not use to all this sh!t. Talked to a co worker about this and he said he's been living here his whole life and he's never seen traffic so backed up. Said Charleston will be like NYC in the next 10 years.

I'm pretty certain that there is nothing in the driving manual here to educate people about merging. I've never seen so many people married to their spot on the road, with complete and utter refusal to give it up. It's insanity.

Welcome to Charleston where rush hour traffic is all day long and where people drive 25 miles under the speed limit any time there is a dark cloud in the sky. Bridge traffic will give you grey hair in a few months. Other than that it's a great city with lots of great breweries.

In the early 90's I used to drive from Folly to IOP like it was no big deal. I would just go for lunch. Now that would be insanity.

Yea, too many yanks moved here all while Riley did nothing for anywhere outside the peninsula so traffic is insane. Approving all these neighborhoods without updating roads was a death sentence. On top no one here has a regular hour job so people are constantly on the roads. 7 generations been here and I'm considering leaving just because I'm beginning to spend 2 hours a day in traffic. The boat traffic is worse, bunch of Ohioans riding around with their motors trimmed up throwing 4' wake. Don't get me started

Traffic is bad in all big cities, Charleston just happens to be the biggest in South Carolina.

I recently moved from Mt Pleasant to a new subdivision in Summerville to get rid of my work commute. I now have a 10-15 min drive that I don't touch I-26.

Ouch. I bet that commute from MP to Summerville for work was awful for you. I live in North Charleston(Dorchester rd) but I work on Rivers ave, I have to touch Ashley Phosphate everyday and that's where I run into the most traffic at. Unless there is some back way I don't know about I'm screwed for now.

and continues ti bring in more people and more condos woth no plans for traffic mitigation. Time to limit building until infrastructure can tolerate it.. which right now it cannot. Good luck!

That was started 15 years ago by Riley, sounds like teckle actually has some plans to use money for road expansion for west Ashley and James island, and was for johns island too but voting down 526 caused everyone to care even less about them now. just need to widen 17, 61, and folly road
