Mascots: The Tiger vs the feaux tiger

Jan 3, 2020, 4:41 PM

In the spirit of my wife's favorite "Who Wore It Better?" features:

Clemson- The Tiger is near the top end of of the scale for anthropomorphic yet realistic representation of the actual living version of a mascot in general. For the opposite end of this scale see USuC's chicken in a dress or whatever they call the guy up north with a head like a giant malformed nut.
The Tiger's head has the characteristically round feline shape with the eyes immediately noticeable, forward facing and wide open, reminiscent of any predator focused on it's prey. Even a house cat's eyes open and dilate like that watching a bird at a window as it's body prepares itself to attack. The ears are also up, angled rearward and alert, indicative of an "on the hunt" frame of mind.
The fur is orange, again like an actual tiger, with bold, wide, black stripes and minimal white highlights around the face, throat and ears. Even the backs of the ears have white patches so that other mascots can follow it more easily in the dark.
The paws exhibit the characteristic retractable claw pads of any feline, the tail is long and graceful and his attire is a simple orange T-shirt, with short sleeves adorned with the trademarked Clemson Paw.
His constant expression is a closed mouth confident smile as there's no need to try and intimidate the opposition with empty threat displays as our team takes care of that on the field where it matters.
Notable accomplishments: Started the much copied routine of doing pushups after every score in 1978.

LSU- The first impression is that it looks like something your nine year old nephew would draw and get posted on the fridge before it's covered up with his remedial T-Ball schedule and the new wait list for prime spots upwind of the septic tank at the local trailer park. The unnatural golden brown base color is rarely seen in nature except in fried foods. In short, the entire creature looks as if someone took a Finepoint Sharpie to a corn dog.
The ears lay flat, like a dog that has just been caught chewing on his master's slippers. The eyes are small and beady, like those of a tadpole just before its feet poke out of its butt and it becomes a frog.
The cheeks are covered in what must be every bit of the shearling wool left over from the coat the cowboy wore in the old Stetson Cologne commercials, and the white cheek ruffs look like somebody just scalped Bernie Sanders.
His teeth appear to be factory seconds from one of the Goblins working at Gringot's Bank, and his mouth is continuously open in an expression that can best be described as, "You have funnel cakes"?!? The hands and feet were designed by someone completely ignorant of basic biological characteristics as all claws are permanently extended, like you would see on a dachsund or yorkshire terrier. The tail is short, limp, and has probably inspired numerous Freudian references for undergrads in LSU's psychology department.
He too is attired in just a shirt, either a padless football jersey or sleeveless wife beater style tank top.
Notable accomplishments: Has whiskers made from the line off of a weed whacker.

Mike, LSU's Tiger, is about 700lbs and lives in a beautiful $3mil habitat across the street from the stadium.

Mike invites the Clemson Tiger over for dinner.

Mike is actually cool, it’s your on field mascot that looks like a rejected costume from a B grade puppet show.
