that there are probably 30 or so athletes in MLB, NBA, and NFL that make more than $17.1 million per year by themselves just in salary, and some even double that, and we're talking about entire university athletic departments sharing this amount as a huge haul. Not paying the athletes sure makes it easier to operate on that amount.

It seems if the NFL would pony up some dough to support their free minor league system, it would be even more money.
