All of this seniority crap and KB is starter so he wouldn't

transfer talk is just so insanely stupid if you really think about it. To those of you that believe this, do you really think that Wilkins, Clelin, Austin B, and all of the other people that came back or are seniors this year would really just be cool with Dabo naming KB the starter if it was obvious in practice that TL was that much better????
Seriously, that is what you are saying. That these guys that passed up millions of dollars to come back and play with this team, to try an win it all, would just sit back and not be upset about the coaches not playing the best player that gave the team the best chance to win. The players see all of the practices, not you. The coaches see all of the practices, not you. So take a deep breath and have faith in not only the coaches, but the leadership of the players on this team.

Do you really think that Wilkins, Ferrell, Austin, etc. would come out and publicly bash Kelly Bryant or the coaches if they disagreed with the decision?
I can see it now, Wilkins address the media and says, "Yeah, I love Dabo, but he's crazy to be starting Kelly Bryant. Trevor Lawrence is better and should be starting. I came back to school to win another national championship, and this decision doesn't give us the best chance to do that."
Come on.

Heck no, they would never do that.

We all know that. But, and this is a big but, you know they would not be happy about it and you would see a different demeanor in them. If they felt their chance at success was being sabotaged, they would not be acting the same jovial, goofy people they are. They would be pissed on the inside and it would show, even if only in a subtle manner. You can tell when people feel they are being disrespected or not being given the best opportunity to succeed.

He didn't say 'come out publicly.' I think that's the point.

The team is behind the curtain. No way KB doesn't have the team's backing as well as Dabo's, because Dabo wouldn't have him there otherwise.
Relax. We're going to be very good and get to see a lot of great QB play all year no matter who is taking snaps by the look of things.

I think the coaches are handling it correctly.

You have to start KB. He was our QB last year in one of our best seasons in school history. He has earned the right to start against Furman. I'm sure he has improved.
The coaches have been smart to say all the right things. They are honoring KB while also leaving plenty of room for the competition to continue into the season. They have already said that both will play. That way, when/if Lawrence is clearly the best option, he can easily transition into the role rather than it being a huge shock.
Tough situation for the coaches, and they have played it properly.

Yes, this was my point.

All I was saying is that if TL was CLEARLY the better player today, it be hard for the coaches to still give the nod to KB. This is GOOD NEWS for everyone. It means the KB has played well enough in practice to hold off the "freshman phenom" everyone is raving about. My point was it was not ONLY because of seniority, that KB has earned it, TO THIS POINT.

If our guys didn't think the starter at QB was...

the best man for the job neither would our coaching staff. So no. I also think that if it ever happens to guys with this character some players might express their view in private and no one else would know what they had to say.
All that being said and put to rest, anyone who thought TL could master our playbook and execute all the vast number of plays in six months is an idiot. Even if he could retain everything that doesn't address the practice on each play which builds muscle memory which is absolutely necessary considering the speed at which our plays develop.
Give him three games playing part time and he'll be better than KB. Maybe two if he stays behind center long enough. There's also the consideration that Dabo wants to be three deep with quarterbacks who can win a national championship. That will limit TL's time behind center also.
I think TL should play early, often and long until he takes the reigns but I'm not privy to the ins and outs of the many factors which are involved in picking a starter. All I have to go on is talent and physical ability which seems to point to TL in a league of his own. When skill development reaches a particular level he will be in the John Elway, Johnny U and Steve Young class.
I'd bet the farm.

and I do expect the TL will win the job at some point this season. My point was to the here and now and the decision made by the coaches at this point.
