guess not. This is a pretty good deal for the panthers though. They get to keep their 1st rounder this year and only give up a 6th rounder and a couple picks next year. He is a top 5 pick and has had absolutely nothing around him in New JErsey. But either way he's still the 4th place team in a 4 team division. TB, NO, and ATL are all head shoulders better in talent.

There was no ‘buy low’ scenario out there for DW...

The price was going to be very high.
But now, there’s no incentive for any team to take the risk of what looks to be, in the very least, a long period of uncertainty beyond the draft.
I suppose there could always be some eleventh hour clearance of DW and a team ready with a deal...but any deal probably needs this draft...and that time is passing quick.
Moves by the teams that had their eye on DW seem to indicate that he’s not going anywhere.

Puts Panthers in position of having to decide with no field play input from Darnold. Expect they have already made decision to extend 5th year option.

Fine as long it is not Scam Newton. The Panthers can lose every game as far as I'm concerned. Their avoidance of Clemson players is very obvious.

i'm assuming they're going Surtain or Sewell if they get lucky and sewell drops. Forever i thought they were going QB but now it looks like defense. They definitely need a shut down corner.. whether surtain is shut down we'll have to see. But he's the best DB in the field. I think its Surtain.
