Because we have seen Dabo perform in a much different manor when the situations were similar. He has fired coaches before when they did not perform to the "best" standard and went out and made huge upgrades. He has replaced QBs when they did not perform well and made significant changes. Does anyone argue that KB's QB play was any worse than what we have seen from DJ at present? I don't think that we have a TL in the wings, but after such a pitiful showing this past Saturday and not even try a change is uncharacteristic based on his past performances.
I'm giving Dabo a pass on his decisions of the present out of respect for his great decisions of the past. But to many... it is confounding, and confusing and are due to the seeds he himself has sown.

but I also don't see Cade being Trevor in the wings... either way we rode the season with an underperforming QB and it cost us.

If we had Kb the last 2 years we have an 8 year play off streak, 41 win home streak, 8 straight against the coots, 8 straight ACC ships and 2 back to back undefeated regular seasons.

Gotta disagree…somewhat. With the current receivers this would be the same team. A team that should run 85% of the time and teams would stack the box. KB was as good a passer as DJ but not enough to change the outcomes.

Kelly Bryant's tragic flaw was that he couldn't throw against Alabama. Otherwise he was capable enough. He would have been capable enough this year.

Its just like when I buy a new car and make these hideous payments and it keeps breaking down. I take it back to the dealership for warranty work and the guy says “It checks out fine, you’re good to go” and I leave and it breaks down again and I take it back and they keep saying “oh its fine!”

Cade did things in HS that Trevor never could...the level at which he played at Westlake was far beyond the film for TL and most of us have seen both...TL looked great but Cade looked even better and when you consider the level of competition Cade faced it was almost too good to be true! In his group of competitors sometimes 4 would go to region! Each of his years they would face Allen, Southlake , Katy, Garland, Round Rock and others! HOUSTON, AUSTIN/SAN ANTONIO, and DALlAS/FW all had loads of teams!

Dabo is great. He is a great program leader. I'm glad we have him. However, he just needs to have straight answers to basic questions and not be so sensitive. When a critical question comes his way, he has a tendency to go into defense mode, citing records, past performance, and explaining his reporting structure, along with "what-if" scenarios. He nor anyone else is above criticism, especially given his contract. The QB situation is in fact perplexing and providing some color to the current situation would satisfy many in the fan base. This fan base is educated. They know what good football looks like and they know what bad football looks like. It's not complicated. I don't know if he is trying to protect egos, feelings, etc. It is what it is right now. I know Clemson is better with him than without him. Best indicator of future success is past success. We need to have faith that he will right the offensive woes of the past few years and that Clemson football does not slip slowly back into mediocrity. It is hard to get to the top and even harder to stay there. The last thing we want at Clemson is to be another "Tennessee" post Fulmer. It was like watching the Israelites wonder in the desert for 40 years.

I'd guess CK isn't TL.
I'd hope if CK gave us a better chance to win games when DJ is struggling he'd play more.
I'd assume since he wasn't here in the spring he doesn't have a complete grasp of the offense and can't read defenses well enough to play more.
Of course, it looks like DJ can't read defenses at all, but until the loss to SC we were in the playoff hunt, so it's hard to say Dabo is mismanaging things without knowing what's behind the curtain.

Im giving Dabo the benefit of the doubt and assuming Cade is terrible, which is why we are having a repeat of last season. If Cade isn't terrible then Dabo is doing every fan who isn't related to DJ a disservice. Hopefully that isn't the case.

That's the thing. He's sending the message to Cade that he thinks he's terrible. What would you do if the message the coaching staff sent you was that they though you couldn't play?
Can you imagine if DJU comes back, CK transfers, and we have Vizzina as a Freshman. Anyone think the coaching staff would handle that situation differently than they handled this season? DJU is another Adrian Martinez!

He'll never be ready if he doesn't get playing time. Do we really think he can be worse than what we've seen from DJU over two years. That, if he played all season, he wouldn't have progressed and that we wouldn't have had as good a record in any case?

I disagree with your premise…Dabo has not replaced QB’s when they didn’t perform well…Cole Stoudt and Kelly Bryant were performing fine when they were replaced…he changed QB’s when the second team guy was inserted into a few games and performed at an Extremely High level…so much to the point where everyone knew DW and Trevor were simply MUCH better.
In this situation, Cade has been placed in games and that simply has not been the case with him…it hasn’t been obvious, he hasn’t really done anything to even match DJ much less make it obvious he was clearly the better option, with the exception of his performance in the GT game! As a matter of fact each time he’s been put in the game since then it has unfortunately been very clear that he has a long way to go!

No one likes a stubborn tyrant. No, Dabo doesn't need the axe. But, No one is always right. There is a time to listen to others and compromise. Proof. CK demonstrated his ability to come in and do the job in the UNC game and Clemson would would have easily won the USC game. There was a great number who felt DJ should have been benched and, they were right. Dabo is not perfect and he will make other mistakes. We must not forget what he has done for us in the past. Two Natty's and many other positive benchmarks. We certainly can live with a 12 and 2 or an 11 and 3 season. Either one is a great year!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ask dozens of other schools.
