We werent winning or losing with the 3-deep

I respect Dabo’s integrity.

What we need to fix is the talent and coaching of the 2-deep, and to fill a higher portion of openings with established portal talent.

You can do those things without sacrificing integrity.

So we just need to identify the players in the portal who:

* fill some gaps in our lineup

AND

* are not "problem children" on a path to drugs, DUI, arrests...
* are willing to fill those gaps, even if the gaps are 2nd and 3rd on the depth chart
* are willing to sign without any guarantee of playing time unless they earn it
* are willing to sign without up-front NIL guarantees
* want to be at Clemson instead of somewhere else (any of the above being more important)

Pretty sure Dabo would sign these kids in a heartbeat. Why wouldn't he?

Correct: We weren't winning or losing with the 3-deep

....we were losing because of poor coaching.

Talent hasn't been the issue.

Yes, talent has been an issue.

Talent has absolutely been an issue, but coaching is lately responsible. Coaches have failed to deliver in their ability to improve and develop players. Missing out on a player can be fixed by adding a valuable transfer to that position, but, you know

I have always believed that we could find good players who got missed in the high school recruiting process and ended up and mid-majors or lower division programs (like Tristan Smith). Seems like that is where we could succeed.

Or we could just pay top dollar for elite transfers like every other winning team. Seems pretty easy to me

That is the new system. I don't know why people are confused by this

Most players in the portal don’t find a home. A lot don’t have any team mentality. A selective approach is required.

His philosophy was always to have 44 players that could go toe-to-toe...

with Bama. Everyone, including Dabo, knows that Clemson will never have the 3-deep that Bama, UGA, Ohio St, etc. have. You put all you have into those top 44, then develop serviceable 3-deep.
