Athletes that want a college degree apply and get into the college of their choice of from the schools that accept them. Sign up for your major and attend classes. Keep your grades up to stay in school. Try out for the football team. If you make the team, have fun. Have a JV team and varsity. They can practice together and scrimmage.

Reduce ticket prices back to a reasonable price. Limit coaches pay to something reasonable. Don’t worry about tv revenue. Teams can stream their own games on YouTube.

Get back to true amateur college sports. Let the pros fund their own farm system. Everything about college football has become the worst of corporate America.

I like that Dabo emphasizes graduating and personal responsibility.

What D1 football has devolved into is a far cry from where it started. High school football is at its best when you know the kids playing. They are part of the school community and that is the fun.

I don’t mind the athletes receiving a stipend for the time it takes for practice since it takes away from them being able to work. I also don’t mind scholarships for the athletes as it helps a lot of kids get a college degree. What we currently have is not amateur sports.

I realize this will garner a lot of negative comments, but I am disgusted with the current state of the sport.

With the current situation, I hope Clemson is able to leave the ACC and compete for titles. I support Dabo all the way and trust his judgement. However I would prefer a return to true amateur college sports.

It will never return to the days of yore. It is now a multi billion dollar business and too many people and corporations are getting rich off of the backs of youngsters. We are just now being forced to give some of the loot to the ones who have made all this wealth possible.

Personally, I hope the players keep suing the NCAA, schools and coaches for all they can get.

Because of how wrecked the sport has become, and that's just about in every respect from top to bottom, I agree with your sentiments.

You are following the crowd of the current state of college football garbage. Last season was another exciting football season and this year will be the same. I can't wait for the season to start because it will be plain old, good football. The NFL already has farm teams, called colleges where the draft picks come from.

I played both pickleball and ping pong yesterday. Much better than worrying about this crap.

Ummmm no way. That really does destroy the game. I would be willing to bet less than 20% of real FS s would want this. Your living in 1960, nothing ever stays the same.

My reply to a similar thread

There are club level tackle football clubs.

From wiki - "Operating independently of their colleges' athletics programs, these teams are typically administered, coached, and played by students."

At one time Clemson had one. I may have disremembered, but Clemson won a title one year. I believe it is inactive now. The coots have a team, I'm guessing better than the varsity team, but not as good as equestrian or bass fishing.

Also,
Div II has 36 scholarships
Div III has zero for all sports
Ivy League self imposed zero for all sports
