The guy didn't even act like he wanted to play in college, so how does he think he's going to make the cut in the NFL? You don't turn desire & effort on and off--you got it or you don't.

players at clemson and in the NFL who have taken half the plays off and brought it bigtime on other plays...the late chester mcglockton comes to mind. a great player when he wanted to be, but didn't always dominate like he could have. one of my favorite tigers and raiders, BTW.

Chester is a valid comparison. Chester was much more spectacular (albeit def vs Off position) in his playing style than McClain in my opinion. Very seldom remember McClain being noticed for a great play much less a great game.

i wasn't comparing mcclain to chester. just noting that some players don't give 100% all the time. some are, in fact, notorious for taking plays, quarters or games off.
