Lineup

Mar 28, 2022, 10:07 AM

It might be too early but I think it’s time soon to plug some guys in and see if guys are ready. A problem or one of the problems last year monte stuck with the same guys. Off-season transfer portal. Hope Taylor on track to get back but how about some pitching there is plenty. Also maybe rich in outfield and some others like Blake wright more playing time and David Lewis. I get you want the same group for most part. I am a coach and you wanna create chemistry. Other side what if a guy just needs rest or someone to push him bc for example a freshmen took his spot.

Not disagreeing with some lineup changes, but where do you propose playing Blake Wright? Our infield has been decently consistent at the plate and with a few exceptions solid in the field. Our outfield is the big ### of the season so far. Grice has fallen off from his freshman year significantly and Brewer has not shown much improvement in his 3rd year since high school. The revolving door in left field leaves something to be desired as well. Maybe Ingle in left, French catching and Wright at DH? I don't know. We also really need to figure out what is going on with the pitching staff the past 10 games or so, and don't tell me it's the level of competition only.

I mean plenty of guys capable now if they excel is a different question. Guys on bench should get a shot. What can hurt?

Someone posted about a week ago on this topic and their argument was busting a kids confidence by benching them... Or something to that affect. Anyway, I agree with giving different guys a chance. He's done that to a small extent but you can't just give a guy a few abs and draw conclusions.

But as posted above, who do you bench? Put someone in center and bench brewer? Grice? Corbit... Idk either. But I do agree with the other poster on our pitching. We threw everyone at Pitt and none could sustain more than an inning.

Was hoping Williams and Olenchuk would make huge strides but we haven't seen it yet. Obviously they're not seeing it in practice either. The midweek coastal and ga st is very concerning. Inclined to give the Pitt games a pass for now. We'll see how Pitt progressed and cut them some slack on the weather.

Saying, we will know more in 2 weeks. If the same sub 500 ball is being played, then yeah, scratch the line-up and get other guys in. One thing we definitely need to do is just concentrate on putting the ball in play. Easier, softer swings.

Our hitting approach won’t change as long as monte is coach. Can’t blame players just bad coaching. I agree much easier to field a pop fly then a grounder
