Swofford supposedly went to bat for UNCheat...was he trying to save his own skin? How far back does the scandal go, back to his time as AD?

was AD from 1980-1997. Carl Carey was assigned to keep Peppers eligible as soon as he arrived on campus in 1998, and in his first semester that fall Carey demanded (and received) the bogus retest in Drama 15 that kept Peppers eligible.

I think it's fairly likely that the fraudulent academic system was already in place before Peppers arrived on campus, which would put Swoffie there for the inception.

Who knows, maybe Swofford even helped set it up himself?

with the UNC reps before the NCAA was a tactic to try to call off the attack dogs or at least to assuage the NCAA's actions. Why? Because the entire crowd there, including Swafford, knew that the pot only got dirtier, if and when the NCAA got to the bottom. I've smelled cr@p with this from the beginning, simply because of Swofford's long association with UNC.
