This is an excerpt from a gov't announcement about an upcoming procurement from the US Agency for International Development. The name of it is "Empowering the Truth Tellers to Counter Corruption"
An active, informed, and independent media sector is imperative to the fight against corruption. Around the world, investigative journalists (IJs) are on the frontlines of combating corruption, increasingly in environments characterized by autocratization, closing civic space, online and in-person harassment, and significant personal and legal risks. Technical and journalism expertise, access to information, and a broad range of partnerships and coalitions are needed to allow independent media and journalists to effectively detect, track, and expose corrupt actors, the deliberate capture of democratic institutions, and global networks of illicit finance, transnational organized crime, and strategic corruption. IJ networks also require sufficient operational, financial, and legal protections to ensure their viability and impact. Because IJs are disproportionately targeted for their work as truth-tellers - including being silenced by either strategic litigation or by physical threats and even death - they also require support for coalitions, networks, and preventative measures to protect their critical work and fuel effective collective action.
Classic isn't it? The Biden Administration: we are so corrupt, let's use our expertise to help other nations avoid what is happening here. SMH.
