my advice: don't go buy a dead "live" tree. Ever. Single or married.
If you're wrapped up in "the spirit" and simply MUST, just go to Lowe's and buy a potted cypress, fir or pine. Wrap some lights around it, maybe some ornaments, and experience Joy to the World. Way better than killing a tree.
Then on Dec 26, take it out and plant it in your yard. If you don't have a yard, go plant it in the park or the woods or somewhere.
By doing that, you get the bonus feeling that you are saving the world from Global Warming by planting a tree. Not sure why the climate change Nazis haven't grabbed ahold of this notion already to save the world while getting a self-pat on the back. I'm not a climate warrior by any means, but I do love trees.
