How will future problems for UNC/Miami affect the ACC?

I am guessing with the new TV deal, this will not hurt revenue, but obviously the ACC needs Miami and UNC to be good to get back to the reputation as an elite conference in football.

I would love to see Roy Williams face if they find things on the bball team.

IF UNC got the death penalty

Would we be allowed to replace any of our games with them with a good OOC team? This scenario probably won't play out, but just speculating on a possible chance to 'up' the schedule.

punishment is the new Death Penalty - Let 'em keep playing, but make it so that they are going to stink.

I agree, the NCAA won't ruin a conference schedule...

by dissolving a team. They won't even bar a team from TV for the sake of the economic impact on other schools.

I have wondered this myself. These are two of the top 6 teams in the ACC and in order to create depth we need at least the top half of the conference to play well. On the plus side both the names of UNC and Miami will keep them in the news even when they are losing. It will make things that much easier for the other 4 teams (FSU, VT, GT, and us) to win 10-12 games a year. Just like the SEC has built itself up through 4 teams(FL,LSU,Bama, and Auburn).

Just like the SEC has built itself up through 4 teams(FL,LSU,Bama, and Auburn).

Florida, Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU- All programs that have won National Titles since the SEC expanded.

Georgia- Multiple Top 10 finishes and a #2 finish.

Alabama, LSU, Georgia, USC, Arkansas- 50% of the AP Top 10 poll right now.

Florida- #23 and six of 14 in the Top 25

Auburn, Tennessee, Missouri, Texas A&M, Mississippi State- In the "other receiving votes" category and brings the total to 11 of 14 teams in or receiving votes in the Top 25 poll.

Miami, yes. As much as I hate to say it, the ACC needs them to become a football juggernaut again. UNC, not so much. Having Miami, VT, and GT consistently putting up Top 10 teams would be enough, there's no reason to suddenly make UNC critical to the success of ACC football. They never have been before, why stroke their egos even more?

I will be Americas most surprised football fan if UNC is penalized beyond what has already been done by the NCAA. It just will not happen. Sad but true.

there get the chance they'll solicit the NCAA to set the athletic department on their butt and take back control of the university.
