As expected, the Alabama careers of four players arrested in connection to a pair of robberies earlier this month have come to an end.

While the term “dismissed” was not used, head coach Nick Saban confirmed Wednesday that the quartet — running back Brent Calloway, linebacker Tyler Hayes, defensive lineman D.J. Pettway and defensive back Eddie Williams – are “no longer associated with the football program.” All four players were indefinitely suspended Feb. 12, just a couple of days after their arrests.

Hayes, Pettway and Williams were charged with two counts each of second-degree robbery, with those charges classified as felonies. Williams was also charged with fraudulent use of a credit/debit card, one day after he was charged with carrying a pistol without a license in an unrelated incident.

All three were subsequently barred from returning to campus after the attacks on two UA students.

Hayes and Williams admitted to police that they had attacked, beaten and robbed the first victim, while Williams admitted to doing the same to the second victim. Per police reports, all three of those players banned from campus were present during the course of the robberies, although Pettway has yet to admit being an active participant.

While Calloway did not physically participate in the robberies, he was charged with fraudulent use of a credit/debit card. That, though was Calloway’s second arrest since coming to the Tide as a five-star recruit in 2011; in October of that year, he was charged with misdemeanor possession of marijuana.

All four of the players charged are either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen.

Williams was a five-star member of the Tide’s 2012 recruiting class, rated as the No. 1 athlete in the country by Rivals.com. Pettway and Hayes were four-star members of UA’s 2011 and 2012 recruiting classes, respectively.

"All four of the players charged are either true freshmen or redshirt freshmen."- in other words, they're not important to team in the short term. I would hope same punishment would be applied if they were major contributors. With Spurrier no, with Saban?

Always thought Saban was about as strict as they come...

could be wrong.

Bama just puts the next guy in. Most teams don't have that luxury.
