Which is heavier, a pound of gold or a pound of feathers?

The pound of gold is worth more, but a pound is a pound regardless the material matter... Now if I were selling a pound of gold, it would weigh 453.59 grams, but if I was selling a pound of feathers, I would weigh it out to 454 grams ;)

If the feathers were gamecock feathers, they would be more valuable.

I've always felt anything concerning a gamecock, was totally worthless.

Here’s a hint:

There are more than one system of weights and measures. Gold and feathers are not measured by the same system. For example: you have heard of a karat weight of diamonds but not a karat weight of apples. They are measured differently.

So once again. Which is heavier, a pound of gold or a pound of feathers? You should have learned this in grade school.

Here is another hint....

either stay in the gym and in the garden. But don't mix the two.

a pound is still a pound, too... unless you are talking pound cake. Now, that is of the same category as someone who says, "I'm from the government and I'm here to help." A heaping of one does not make a pinch of another, though.

I'd rather have the gold but a pound is a pound, either way.***

We have a winner. A pound of feathers is heavier than a pound of gold.

Good job!

So, you were not interested in what a pound weighs after all, just which one is easier to carry. Why add that weight to people?

I believe gold is weighed in troy ounces

Mar 31, 2023, 2:16 PM

And is only 12 ounces per pound, so the feathers will weigh more. Of course, I am going by my fading memory from a question posed to me during my drivers ed. class in 10th grade.
