Explanation of Clemson position on GOR.

I heard this explained by an attorney. Here is the position of Clemson and FSU concerning the GOR.

Any game played by Clemson while Clemson is/was in the ACC is the property of ESPN. For example, if Clemson and FSU leave the conference after the 2024 season, ESPN will still own the rights to rebroadcast all home games played by them while they were in the conference. (Clemson could not sell the rights to last year's Clemson/Wake game or Clemson/FSU game. Those broadcast rights still belong to ESPN.) But, once the team is no longer in the conference ESPN does not own the broadcast rights.

Notes:

1. I may be misunderstanding it, but that is the way I heard the attorney explain it.
2. It is an interesting argument, but I'm leery of a judge finding legal merit in it. The GOR was designed to be a tool to keep a team from leaving the conference. This interpretation seems to make the GOR a paper tiger.
3. I'm no attorney. I have no idea what will happen. I just enjoy the show.

Why have a buy out if you can’t get out?

Also precedence leans more Clemsons way than the ACC. I find it hard to believe a judge won’t find what the acc is attempting to do to be punitive.
