DJ hate is more about NIL than his play

DJ has been a big disappointment. He just does not seem like the player that we recruited or saw last year. I have no idea what’s up and it’s frustrating! He deserves criticism like everyone else on team and coaching staff. However I think some of the attacks on him are rooted in jealousy that he is making money. When a kid is making more money than most of us and doesn’t perform it gets ugly. I imagine that’s going to be the new reality going forward for “fans” and players.

You take the good with the bad.
Players wanted to get paid. Fair enough.
But with that you lose the 'they're just amateurs playing the game' shield.

It is what it is.
I don't think it's envy, I think people are treating them the way they've always treated professional athletes... which is now what they are.

They are not professional athletes. In SC, the NIL is not

That is a distinction without a difference, no?
When the money arrives is largely moot, the point is he is in commercials and has endorsements and a large pile of cash coming.
That's a professional athlete with some caveats.

Cowboy up DJ and do something about it or get a State Farm franchise in a few years with a Red SUV with your then 375lb face plastered on it. I would prefer he travel in time and find the DJ of 2020

with his arm and he short hops an easy short ball to the wr last night. He is an amazing athlete but some of those throws are amazing but not in a good way.
