DAVIDSON NC WILDCATS Have New FB Stadium For 2024.

This new stadium version has seats on visitors side this time, no track around field, much larger press-box, modern sound system and up to date LED lighting. Remember that the Belk Brothers of the clothing empire went to college there (as did President Woodrow Wilson did) and have donated many many millions over 50 years as has the Duke Foundation.

Now, so observations & thoughts:

Davidson, Furman & Georgia Southern have rather small stadiums in relationship to our current big boy standards but I remember in the early 60’s where the DV portals were the very top of the stadium as you left and no upper decks, so we were smallish too.

Saying, college football is fun & competitive no matter the size stadium and teams still play competitive & exciting football with rabid fans that come, enjoy and generally go on with their lives w/o extreme or crazy fanfare.

Mentioning stadiums & size, APP St is where it gets a bit more competitive what with a larger stadium and fans who are a bit more crazy in their support & adoration..and then right up there you have WF & Duke in that similar tier of being close but not big boy football.

I happily lived in the sweet village of Davidson for 10 yrs until 2007 across from the small but beautiful campus, as does my Son still nearby, and we still smile about a FB game we attended there around 2000 or so.

The women were talking homemaking chores or about children while men were talking business or sports and when Wildcats scored many of them looked around and said “What Happened”. LOL~

Davidson is one of the few schools where basketball pays the bills. The stadium looks very nice and big for a team that gives no scholarships.

My youngest son works in the athletic department at Davidson and he keeps me up to date as to what is happening on campus. Great school.

Anyone remember a very good basketballer who once played there? He had a son who did ok too!

Seth was at Liberty first.

I got to see them both in the same season living in the Charleston area. Steph played at CofC and Citadel (went to the El Cid game, sold my press passes at CofC for a hundo and took the Mrs. out to eat). Seth played at Charleston Southern, smallest facility in D1. Dad was at Steph's game and Sonya was at Seth's.
