Clemson gets tall receivers that can get the 50-50 balls...

even if there is no separation. Seems DJ could put it up more even if shorter throw due to no protection. Give the guys a chance to make play. Need a true slot guy also. Deshaun Watson threw some picks but overall result was great with 50-50 balls.

It's hard to find much positives from this past game, but it did appear that DJ threw a couple of these fairly well for the first time this year. I thought he put a little better touch on some of these passes than the ridiculous darts 10 yards from any receiver he threw in the first few games. Of course there were enough bad passes to last an entire season also, but even the last pass in OT was catchable if Ross would have stretched out for it.

We just have not had that many opportunities with the safeties content to just sit back in a 2 deep zone, daring us to run or throw over the middle. This is why the announcers were saying we needed more eye candy, faking a jet sweep to ross from time to time would keep them honest. But DJ can not sell the play-action the way Lawrence could, and of course, is not a much of a threat to run, so we have few options here. The fact that the coaches put together a wild cat package over the summer should tell you everything you need to know.
