Braves trade deadline update
Jul 25, 2011, 10:57 AM

According to Buster Olney of ESPN, right now, it looks like the Braves are not willing to give up any of their top 4 pitching prospects (Teheran, Vizcaino, Minor, Delgado) in exchange for a 2 month Beltran rental. While I think this is a smart decision, I have a strange feeling the Braves are going to once again give up too much talent for a player that was good 5 years ago. Frank Wren does it every year. Here's to hoping for the best.

Would you be willing to give up Minor and Delgado, along with Uggla and Alex Gonzalez, if it meant you could get Reyes and Beltran? I know the Mets say Reyes is not on the market, but would that be an offer either club would entertain, in your opinion?

The Braves just made a 5 year deal for Dan Uggla. You don't trade a guy you just signed for a 5 year deal.

If the Braves are looking for a good hitting outfielder....

there are other good options besides Beltran, like Michael Borune from Houston or Josh Willingham from Oakland. An argument could also be made for Jamey Carroll, the infileder from LA.

The Braves need a relief pitcher. Yes, O'ventbrel is a great trio, but we can't keep throwing them out there. Look at Linebrink last night, and I won't even mention Proctor. There is no reliability. Besides the trio, I do not feel comfortable with any reliever entering the game with a lead. We need a reliever. My vote is for Heath Bell...

I would love Clippard, however, the way the Nationals are rebuilding, there is no way they would depart with him. He is nasty though.
