11/29 for 120 yards instead of 8/29 for 99.

Apparently the coaches think so because that’s all they’ve harped on and apparently the OL didn’t give DJ 30 sec of pocket time ??♂️

The pocket was awful

For a good bit of the game, I just watched DJs legs in the pocket ... he couldn't take 3 steps before I saw black socks everywhere.
Same with Shipley. He would be stumbling forward 2 yards after catching the ball

Also if your not getting good protection roll the QB out of the pocket, this isn’t rocket science we use to do all of this three years ago

I definitely have to go back and watch because ship had his best grade ever pass blocking. But, understood it wasn't good. I wouldn't say awful and pff gives it middle grade for all our games.
The oline given the lack of foresight on coaches has done a superb job of pass and run pro all year. Good enough we should be 12-0. Now, said coaches knew this in spring. We waited way too late to try a half hearted effort at the portal. Still, knowing this, as an oc you have to scheme around it. You needed a qb that could roll out quickly and keep eyes downfield.
Perhaps if we'd given cade a lot of reps on our first 4 easy games, he'd been more ready to step in. If cade couldn't do it, let hunter Johnson take a shot. Every team knows dj can't move the pocket.

Do we have a breakdown of Shipley and Mafah rushes per quarter?

Please not the 20+ category and the middle of the field category...
Same as all year long... exception was the Miami game....

That’s somewhere between ugly and awful & I love DJ but I’m sure he’s embarrassed himself. I played football, I would have been but I would have never wanted to be taken out because I always believed I could recover and be great the rest of the way.
Hopefully, DJ has confidence he can improve greatly. He has to be near perfect in practice. Can’t imagine they wouldn’t pick 4-5 plays and get really good at those with options.

(14%) on passes more than 10 yards is NOT DUE TO DROPS and in my review of the pass plays, DJ was under pressure twice on those throws.
So he was 2/12 on passes >10 yds when not under pressure. The only reason we were in the game at the end is because of the 9 pts on defense.
If DJ plays like that against UNC, we will lose again.
