DRad should just drop women's basketball and rowing period.

Replace them with softball. I think we could be competitive in softball in a hurry and draw more fans too. Crying shame that we don't already have a softball team. So tired of losing women's basketball games to good teams by 30 and 40 points.

Don't ever drop rowing. It would be a shame to lose something that emphasizes Clemson's location on the lake.

Softball would cost too much and bring in very little.

The problem with adding softball....
Feb 23, 2016, 3:28 PM

is that Title IX requirements would necessitate Clemson building a facility for the softball team that would be comparable to Beautiful Tiger Field.
Baylor's Getterman Stadium and FSU's JoAnne Graf Field, as an example, which are two of the nations premier collegiate softball facilities, would cost upwards of $15 million to construct.

Im not sure how comparable they really have to be. South Carolina's softball field isn't remotely as nice as Carolina Stadium. The average annual total budget for an SEC softball team is $1.5 million. Our women's basketball team is well over $2.5 million.

Just looked basketball is 15, rowing 20, softball 12. Oddly equestrian is 15 and should possibly be a sport to look at, if the scholarship players have to foot the bill of their own horses. Travel might be a #####.

Lander has an Equestrian program. It can't be that expensive.

Because we have a positive cashflow in men's basketball and benefit from being in the ACC.
Drop the sport and you don't share the revenue, but we have had successful basketball teams and will again.

Rowing... although attention under the national radar is confined to local interests, the strength, conditioning and athleticism required to compete is second to no other sport (except, perhaps, wrestling.) And it's a TEAM sport, in the strictest sense of the word. Lake Hartwell - one of the most beautiful and accessible venues on earth - is an integral part of the Clemson campus (duh! - right?) and requires use in the athletic arena. Don't sacrifice women's rowing.
GO TIGERS!!!
