Why is D. Coleman

Nov 18, 2013, 10:29 AM

not playing very much? Apparently he has not recovered from his injury. Right?

possibly inexperience...

Nov 18, 2013, 11:05 AM

but I have heard Brownell say that he isn't the greatest defensively, and that's what is most important to him. I believe that's why you see Filer playing more, because he's a great on ball defender.

Also, I don't recall ever seeing Devin do much when he does come in. He played well in a few games coming down the stretch his freshman year but I really don't recall much else that stands out about him, even in the first two games this year...

Coleman played two years ago

Looked great on some drives to the basket...

I think he is either still hurt or in the dog house because he can play.

Hall, Roper, Filer, Harrison just playing better right now

tough to play 5 guards. He and Ajukwa are the odd men out. His quickness, especially on D has been affected by the injury. Honestly. would not surprise me to see Devin transfer. Noting against him, but with Rooks back next year and Devoe coming in next season, just not a lot of PT available

True, but Coleman brought that big city kind of play to the court which Clemson has lacked forever. I think that that is important but Coach B. is on top of things. I trust him to make the right moves.

Wouldn't give up on Coleman just yet coming off major injury

Nov 18, 2013, 12:31 PM

Blossomgame's and Coleman's aren't quite the same. With Blossomgame's, once it heals it is stronger than before. Coleman's is soft tissue and may take a little bit longer to be back to where he was prior to the injury. He also was a slow starter his freshmen year

Just not sure where his minutes will come, this year

Nov 18, 2013, 12:42 PM

and especially next. I'm rooting for him, but until/unless his quickness gets back to 100%, he can't guard the way BB needs him too. 2 guys must exit the program before next season. One will be a guard. Right now, DC seems like the logical guy. It definitely would not be on bad terms, but guys want to play. The time just isn't there right now

I agree that he might be one of the two transfers.

Nov 18, 2013, 1:51 PM

I had hoped to see him do well this year, especially after finishing his freshman year on a high note and having a nice showing in Italy. Brownell also seemed encouraged by his improved outside shot, since he is one of the guys they tweaked the shooting form on. But he sure hasn't gotten many minutes since the season started.

Like you said, it's hard to see where the minutes will come from with Hall, Roper, Filer, Harrison, etc. getting the bulk of the minutes (and playing well).

"All those 'Fire Brownell' guys can kiss it." -Joseph Girard III

"Everybody needs to know that Coach Brownell is arguably the best coach to come through Clemson." -PJ Hall

If it comes to a transfer it would be a mutual decision

Nov 18, 2013, 12:44 PM [ in reply to Re: Hall, Roper, Filer, Harrison just playing better right now ]

Devin surely wants to play, and if the minutes are not and probably will not be there, he'd be wise to move on. He could go home to the plethora of Philly schools and play next December. He may stick it out to the end of the year, and I have no problem with that. But 2 guys must leave the program next year, and right now, DC seems a logical fit to be one

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

he was never that good

Nov 18, 2013, 12:43 PM

he had a small stretch of playing well 2 seasons ago. But people started to use his injury as an excuse why we struggled last year which was nonsense.
