ready to grab my passport, hop a plane over seas, and KNOCK the teeth out of the first Spaniard I see.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

why? their team is actually hustling and cares, our team

Aug 12, 2012, 11:45 AM

with far superior talent isn't. But we will still win.

You must not have been watching the games.

Our guys are working hard we're just undersized compared to the spanish team. Also these spanish players are the kings of flopping.

watched the whole thing pal

we had the talent to win by 30+. We don't because our guys (not all, but most) think they are sooo good they are entitled to the gold without helping on defense, without hussling, without learning the international game.

Honestly, I wouldn't have cared if we lost.

LOL. Our Olympic team works their butts off on D. Spain

Yeah, I'm not sure you can really criticize the team today

Between an overzealous (both ways) officiating staff and no dependable big man answer against Spain I thought they actually played pretty well.

International basketball is a different beast and our NBA players adapted alright to it, but it is certainly more of an adjustment for them than it would be for the European players. And I am certainly not blaming the refs, but they were very very tight in the second and third quarters and then just stopped calling all of the touch fouls they had earlier once the game entered the fourth. For instance in the fourth when we were putting a little distance between us and Spain Paul hit a 3 and was run straight over by the defender. It didn't affect the shot and in the NBA it doesn't get called, but as the game had been called up to that point it was easily a four point play opportunity. And likewise similar plays happened like that the other way. It caused some of the American team to not really know what was and wasn't going to be called during the time of the game when officiating should already have been established.

But back to the point I didn't really see the American team really disaplying any lack of effort.

We have 1 true big, and the other guys who frequently rotate in there (james and anthony) both were in foul trouble most of the game, not to mention the fact that they surrender 4-5 inches to both gasols and ibaka. All things considered i think we played well.

You must not watch much basketball. So sick of the old fogeys just automatically dismissing the 12 team by saying they don't care. Lebron and melo couldn't play as physically down low because the awful intl refs were calling a foul every time one of the gasols caught the ball in the line, and james and anthony got into foul trouble.

You should smack an American and tell him to try gaurding someone.
