1.) I do not know the costs associated with leaving the Big 10 for the member institutions. However, I am confident that if the SEC asked OSU if they'd be interested in joining, OSU would respond in the positive in a big way. Michigan is not in consideration for political reasons.
2.) Clemson can depart the ACC at a minimum of no cost unless Clemson's legal representation are complete morons.

play limited games against teams from the ACC/Pac 12 Alliance conferences as their schedules are pulled together in 2024 or 2025. Too many commitments to the 2022 and 2023 schedules to stop games in the next two years.

I really doubt Ohio State would consider moving to the SEC. Like I said in another post, its about the money and supposedly the amount of money B1G schools make in research grants from their academic alliance dwarfs the money from football (which is obviously quite a bit on its own anyway). And all their historic rivalries are there too and they're dominating the conference and have been to the playoff multiple times. They literally have nothing to gain by leaving.

It doesn't matter what the price, because no BIG10 team is leaving (except possibly Nebraska) unless there is a major shakeup by the university BOT's. Same thing with the established teams in the PAC.

years so 450M give or take - thats 1 team. Could they settle- sure but you're probably talking about 200-300M. Not happening. The cost for OSU- first off- they make more than the SEC teams and honestly stand to still make more when their contract is re-upped. The B10 contract expires in the next couple of years so they are in their window where they could technically do what OU and TX have done- but why would they?.... they make more now.
B10 and Pac12 both have contracts expiring in the next couple of years.... any of them could pull a OU/TX if they though the grass was greener. It could be greener for some P12 teams which is why they are a big proponent of the Alliance. The ACC is stuck for quite a while. However, they could add teams to trigger renegotiation- would take the right teams to do ND plus ?. The ACCs income also could increase due to Alliance scheduling ... It should increase anyway a fair amount once Comcast is finally forced on board to carry ACCN this Fall or 2022 at the latest

are right, the # should grow as they move to the backend of the contract. In fact it should bump up this fiscal year and next by ESPN being able to hold Comcast's feet to the fire. Not to mention what alliance games will do as to getting ACCN in other cable markets or increasing streaming #S

I believe the average per school in the two conferences are:
Big 10 - 54 million
SEC - 47 million
OSU going to the SEC makes no "cents"!
Alliance is all and only about leverage; so you don't have voters saying, "the 4th and 5th best SEC team deserves to be National Champion"! Or just flat out declare that the SEC champion is so good; they should just be crowned National Champion. Because since iron sharpened iron and "nobody else has iron or good players and coaches and fans - naturally no other team can compete with an SEC champion that had to go through that (huge sarcasm) gauntlet of a schedule"!
Hype machine for the SEC should say: "Alabama and the rest of them not SEC"!

That was before the new grant of rights was signed. Maryland got out under the old terms.

The buyout was a fixed $50 mil for Maryland- ACC settled

with them and kept the close to $30mil Maryland would have gotten the year they left. Part of the reason the ACC settled was they quickly filled their vacancy with what was considered equal programs. After that the league instituted Grant of Rights - which covers the full media $ for all remaining years of the TV contracts.

Nobody thinks about this because the discussion centers around football.. but the Big Ten universities are all AAU (Association of American Universities) members (except Nebraska who was kicked out) and make literally billions in research grants with their partnerships together on the academic side. They aren't going anywhere. The money they might get from football wouldn't outweigh that and they are in a perfectly good position exactly where they are.
